Northumberland St (Georgian Town House)

Northumberland Street - Georgian Townhouse - Edinburgh Project Management - 1A

Number 12 Northumberland Street is a fine example of a traditional four-story Georgian Townhouse in an enviable end-terrace position situated on a cobbled street in the heart of Edinburgh New Town. It had not had any significant work done since the 1960s and all four stories had been converted to student bedsits.

The works included a complete roof replacement, major rebuild of the gable-end wall head and internally everything was renewed, replaced or restored. The original flagstones and staircase were stripped of decades of over-painting to bring back their original stunning features.

New six-over-six sash and case windows with slim line double-glazing replaced all windows. The original timber floors were sanded, sealed and varnished. Full renovation of all electrics, plumbing and heating was undertaken, as well a comprehensive internal layout alteration. Installation of electric gates and cobbled parking completed the exterior appearance. The result was a high-end residential townhouse home.
